10. VIXX

Composed of 6 members including N, Leo, Ken, Ravi, Hongbin, and Hyuk, VIXX is a South Korean boy band signed under Jellyfish Entertainment. This group is known as a concept of performance group whose music, lyrics, choreography, and overall stage performances are crafted together to tell a story or concept. VIXX debuted their first single Super Hero on 24th of May, 2012 on M! Countdown. On 14th of August, this group released their second single album with song title Rock Ur Bod where Sistar’s Dasom appeared in the music video. VIXX has been recipients of 37 awards from South Korean and International events. They received their first award at SBS MTV Best of the Best 2013 for Best Rookie Group, and received their first Main Prize Bonsang Award at the 23rd Seoul Music Awards.

9. H.O.T

Composed of 5 members including Moon Hee-joon, Jang Woo-hyuk, Tony An, Kangta, and Lee Jae-won, H.O.T was a popular South Korean boy band in the mid to late 1990s who were formed by SM Entertainment in 1996 and disband in 2001. They were the first group to have an album become a million seller in K-pop, despite there being a financial crisis in South Korea at that time. H.O.T made their first debut with their first album We Hate All Kinds of Violence in September, 1996. That album has its first single Junsa Ae Hoo Yeh which sparked controversy because some of their songs apparently plagiarized others, and lawsuits were placed against the group. H.O.T won different awards including Best Group Award, Best Popular Music Video Award, Best Music Video Director Award, Best Popular Music Video Award, and MKMF 10th Anniversary Commemorative Award.

Composed of members including Yoon Doo-joon, Yong Jun-hyung, Yang Yo-seob, Lee Gi-kwang, and Son Dong-woon, Beast or B2ST is a South Korean boy band formed in 2009 by Cube Entertainment. This group has released two Korean full-length albums, seven Korean mini-albums, one Japanese full-length, and various singles. Their first debut released in October, 2009 when their first mini-album Beast is the B2ST was made available. B2ST has achieved significant commercial and critical accolades with time winning the Bonsang award at the Seoul Music Awards in both 2011 and 2012. Composed of 6 members including Jun. K, Nichkhun, Taecyeon, Wooyoung, Junho, and Chansung, 2PM is a South Korean idol group managed by JYP Entertainment. Their first studio album was The First Album 1:59PM which released in 2009. They made their Japanese debut with Republic of 2PM. They released 6 Korean albums in 6 years including 1:59PM, Hands Up, Grown, Go Crazy, No. 5, and 4 Japanese albums including Republic of 2PM, Legend of 2PM, Genesis of 2PM, and 2PM of 2PM.

Composed of 7 members including Sungkyu, Dongwoo, Woohyun, Hoya, Sungyeol, L, and Sungjong, Infinite is South Korean boy band formed in 2010 by Woollim Entertainment. Their mini album New Challenge sold over 160, 000 copies in South Korea alone and was one of the bestselling albums of 2013.
Infinite also has their sub-units including Infinite H and Infinite F from 2013. 5. F.T. Island

Island (Five Treasure Island) is a South Korean pop rock band formed by FNC Entertainment in 2007. They debuted in Korea on June 7th, 2007 with the song Love Sick on the music television program M Countdown and debuted in Japan three years later on 19th of May, 2010 with Flower Rock. This group has released fourteen full-length albums, eight mini-albums, a number of singles, and soundtrack productions for different theme songs and anime openings. This boy band won several major industry awards in South Korea including several Golden Disk Awards, Mnet Asian Music Awards, and Seoul Music Awards.


Composed of 2 members including U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin, TVXQ (Tong Vfang Xien Qi) is a South Korean pop duo. Formed by S.M. Entertainment in 2003, TVXQ began as a five-member boy band consisted of U-Know Yunho, Max Changmin, Hero Jaejoong, Micky Yoochun, and Xiah Junsu. After a year-long hiatus, TVXQ returned as a duo with just two members. Selling over 10 million records in the first 10 years of their career, TVXQ has become one of Asia’s most successful music acts of their generation. Their first album Always which included the song Lies went on top major Korean music charts for a record-breaking seven consecutive weeks and won Song of the Year award at the 9th Mnet Korean Music Festival. Big Bang won 144 awards in total. In individual awards, 96 awards go to G-Dragon, 62 awards go to Taeyang, 13 awards go to T.O.P, and 12 awards go Seungri.

Exo rose to fame with the release of their bestselling first album XOXO in 2013 which contained the breakthrough hit Growl.
